J. S. West Office Building

The New Office Building  for J. S. West and Companies has recently finished construction at 9th and E Streets in Modesto.  The 9,183 sf of single story offices is concrete block with stucco and partial corrugated metal siding emulating the area’s ‘industrial’ appearance.  The circular entry tower, floating canopies and fig covered trellises soften the rigid corners and split face block base of the main walls.  The 1900's turn of the century industrialized style is the prototype for the Ninth Street area, the newest redevelopment blocks of the revitalized downtown Modesto.  The construction cost was $1,350,000.00.
